This is a great video which helps you keep your sanity if you use a long tail cast on (as I do most of the time) and you have to cast on a ton of stitches!

I usually ended up having to start over 2 or 3 times with my russian roulette system of eyeball guessing… but with this method you can save time and energy and actually KNOW how much yarn you will have to leave on your tail!!!!!

And you should check out all of Cat Bordhi’s videos by the way… this woman is a genius!
